The largest strand is a page-by-page guide to British radio and television theme tunes, opening with an introduction before working through the programmes. Other series cover sponsored English-language radio beamed into Europe, Radio Luxembourg and station lists, plus music pages and children’s records that adults still hum.
Some entries wander further, into paintings by George Morland, the Lewis family’s motor cars or a gallery of national flowers. Start with the theme tunes introduction, then follow the numbered pages in order. The pages are rich in record sleeves and photographs, so they reward slow browsing more than a quick scan.
