All patriotic and tradition links on this page.

The whole idea of the Titanic - and both of her sister ships the Olympic and Britannic, began one evening in 1907 when Mr and Mrs J. Bruce Ismay dined with Lord and Lady Pirrie at Devonshire House in the Belgravia area of London. Bruce Ismay was Managing Director of one of Britain's greatest steamship companies - known as the White Star Line...

It was presented to B-P on August 6, 1929 at the III World Jamboree at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead, England. This was known as the "Coming of Age Jamboree" as it marked the 21st anniversary of Scouting. The portrait was Baden-Powell's favorite. The original is displayed in the conference room at World Headquarters (WOSM) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Beatrix Potter's English Rabbits - surely Beatrix Potter cannot be politically incorrect! "In this article I want to suggest through a critical reading of Potter's Peter Rabbit tales that the England and English identities that today's readers find in Potter's narratives are produced in the context of imperialism and the related early twentieth-century redefinition of English national identity."

Brandler-Galleries - We are a small, friendly gallery specialising in Children's Book illustrations, Old English Masters and Modern British paintings. Pinky & Perky, Beatrix Potter, Little Grey Rabbit, Noddy, Black Beauty,P G Woodhouse, Peanuts, Rupert the Bear, Teddy Bear.

About the Unicorn Across the long millennia, in every land and time, the Unicorn is present, in book, and art, and rhyme.

Beatrix Potter was considered an amateur artist by some because of her lack of training, but her natural affection for animals and rich imagination made up for any deficiencies she may have had and manifested themselves through her illustrations. Although many of mice, rabbits, kittens and hedgehogs wore clothing, they still exhibited their specific animal traits while still reflecting on the life of children. Her illustrations  are just as appealing today as they were ninety years ago.

Flag and National Anthem Of th United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

O Lord our God arise,
Scatter her enemies
And make them fall;
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
Oh, save us all!

The Eagle comic was published for the first time in April 1950. The feature that came to dominate it was Dan Dare, written and drawn by Frank Hampson. Above is a frame from one of the "Golden Age" stories, showing the Mekon.
This site is a tribute to Frank Hampson. I hope this page will also introduce people who are not familiar with him to the character he created : Dan Dare, star of the 1950s boys' magazine,

Fireworks in England - During my trips to England, I have enjoyed seeing and firing fireworks that are somewhat different than those available in America. I hope you will enjoy seeing some of these gems from the U.K.

Politically Correct Little Red Riding Hood - There once was a young person named Little Red Riding Hood who lived on the edge of a large forest full of endangered owls and rare plants that would probably provide a cure for cancer if only someone took the time to study them.

Red Riding Hood lived with a nurture giver whom she sometimes referred to as "mother", although she didn't mean to imply by this term that she would have thought less of the person if a close biological link did not in fact exist.

Nor did she intend to denigrate the equal value of nontraditional households, although she was sorry if this was the impression conveyed...

Foxman on Foxhunting - Foxhunting is under attack in many countries. Single interest pressure groups are spreading false information for their own ends. The most critical situation is probably in the UK where a House of Commons majority of politicians (mostly Socialist) is exploiting these activities for political gain in the short term.
