The Comedy
Genius British Humour Web Site

YourMemories.co.uk is a free-to-use website
enabling folk to look back at other people's fond
memories of their younger days, and also serves
as a valuable research facility for students.

The fundamental aim of the Great
British Piers web site is to
generate, and promote, a greater interest in the
many and varied seaside piers situated around the
beautiful coastline of the British Isles, by
collating into one place, anything, and
everything, pier related.

presented to B-P on August 6, 1929 at the III
World Jamboree at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead,
England. This was known as the "Coming of
Age Jamboree" as it marked the 21st
anniversary of Scouting. The portrait was
Baden-Powell's favorite. The original is
displayed in the conference room at World
Headquarters (WOSM) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Beatrix
Potter's English Rabbits - surely Beatrix Potter cannot be
politically incorrect! "In this article I
want to suggest through a critical reading of
Potter's Peter Rabbit tales that the England and
English identities that today's readers find in
Potter's narratives are produced in the context
of imperialism and the related early
twentieth-century redefinition of English
national identity."

About the
Unicorn Across the long millennia,
in every land and time, the Unicorn is present,
in book, and art, and rhyme.
Beatrix
Potter was considered an amateur artist by some because of her lack of
training, but her natural affection for animals
and rich imagination made up for any deficiencies
she may have had and manifested themselves
through her illustrations. Although many of mice,
rabbits, kittens and hedgehogs wore clothing,
they still exhibited their specific animal traits
while still reflecting on the life of children.
Her illustrations are just as appealing
today as they were ninety years ago.

The Eagle
comic was published for the first time in April
1950. The
feature that came to dominate it was Dan Dare,
written and drawn by Frank Hampson. Above is a
frame from one of the "Golden Age"
stories, showing the Mekon.
This site is a tribute to Frank Hampson. I hope
this page will also introduce people who are not

Politically
Correct Little Red Riding Hood - There once was a young
person named Little Red Riding Hood who lived on
the edge of a large forest full of endangered
owls and rare plants that would probably provide
a cure for cancer if only someone took the time
to study them.
Red
Riding Hood lived with a nurture giver whom she
sometimes referred to as "mother",
although she didn't mean to imply by this term
that she would have thought less of the person if
a close biological link did not in fact exist.
Nor
did she intend to denigrate the equal value of
nontraditional households, although she was sorry
if this was the impression conveyed...

Foxhunting
- Foxhunting is under attack in many
countries. Single interest pressure groups are
spreading false information for their own ends.
The most critical situation is probably in the UK
where a House of Commons majority of politicians
(mostly Socialist) is exploiting these activities
for political gain in the short term.
