These are almost certainly not skaters, but deserters.

This appeared at ebay June 2004 - Size: 10" x 12"

Up for bids is an oil painting by George Morland, an English master of genre painting.

This winter scene depicts skating figures amongst a snow covered landscape with a cabin in the distance. Its estimated value is $3000 to $5000 by Butterfields in San Francisco on May 16, 2001. It's signed on the lower right hand and framed by  a wooden gilted frame.

The painting is in excellent condition, however the frame is damaged along the bottom and the right hand side and will need to be either replaced or repaired.
